What species of wood should I build my next set of cabinets out of?

Knotty alder is a really popular wood choice. It’s rustic but elegant. It’s a softer hardwood but still very durable. Maple, hickory and walnut are all very good for your upper end wood choices.

Should I use handles or knobs vs. finger polls?

Cabinet hardware is a very good choice. It serves three purposes:  1) Keep your cabinets clean and 2) Keeps your cabinets scratch free 3) Creates an elegant style to your cabinets.

What is the difference between stained cabinets and glazed cabinets?

Stained cabinets penetrate deeper into the wood as a hand applied stain. A glazed finish enhances the wood leaving an antiqued detail look.

What creates a superior finish on my new custom cabinets?

Lacquer finish is a reliable finish. For a superior finish the best choice would be a conversion varnish.
